Visits to Children’s Оrphanages Across Ukraine
Over 5,000 visits to children’s orphanages across Ukraine reflect the scale and long-term nature of Together’s work, carried out by its team and volunteers to support children facing complex life circumstances, including those in frontline regions. This level of engagement not only allows us to reach thousands of children, but also ensures a consistent presence that builds trust and creates a sense of stability.
Each visit combines emotional support with development. The team organises celebrations, interactive workshops, educational sessions, and group activities, through which children gain new experiences, develop social skills, learn to interact, and begin to recognise their own abilities. These are not one-off interventions, but part of a structured and continuous approach to supporting each child.
Since the start of the full-scale war, this work has significantly expanded. Together has been involved in the evacuation of approximately 4,500 children from orphanages in eastern regions of Ukraine, including participation in evacuation documentation processes and assistances during relocation across Kharkiv, Sumy, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions. This has ensured continuity of care and enabled ongoing support after displacement.
In response to these new challenges, Together developed social adaptation programmes for children forced to leave their homes. Through a combination of educational activities, psychological support, and group interaction, children gradually adjust to new environments, regain a sense of safety, and begin to form new life perspectives.
At the same time, the team works to improve living conditions within shelters by providing essential resources, supporting renovations, and developing recreational spaces. For example, at the Lviv Regional Children’s orphanage, Together created and equipped an outdoor area designed for safe play and structured activities.
Support does not end when a child leaves the shelter. Together maintains long-term relationships with programme participants, supporting their education, professional development, and transition into independent life. This sustained engagement is key to achieving real, measurable impact.
Visits to children’s orphanages across Ukraine are not isolated initiatives. They are part of a systematic, long-term approach that combines care, development, and opportunity — enabling children to move forward with confidence and a renewed sense of direction.
